6 pieces of paper required for this beauty.

I used 6 different colors for the sake of the second half
of this tutorial, where you gotta combine the 6 into an
inverted cube.

122 pictures were taken for this particular tutorial, and
it was a bitch to resize all 122 images and put them onto
a single one. Blargh. Doesn't help that I gotta do a fold,
stop, take a picture, or show how a fold is being done
while taking a picture with one hand. L'ugh.

A couple things to keep in mind when crafting this ball
of spikey death:

1. When folding the 6 pieces to be put together (first
half of the tutorial or so), you'll notice some of my images
jump from one thing to another, especially during the
step where you have to make a 'fan' and 'pop' the lower
crease upwards. Also, when deciding which 'pointy end'
to keep out and which to fold in, make sure the out
ends are opposite of each other. It makes the second
half of the tutorial much easier to follow. You should end
up with 6 pieces of paper that look like plus signs with
2 opposite ends folded in before starting the second
half of this tutorial (there's even an image of what all 6
should look like, huzzah~)

2. When 'meshing' the 6 pieces together, do 1 piece at
a time. Also, the 'short' end of the plus sign fits into the
long end of another one. Connecting 4 pieces together
where you get a 'square' view from one side and then
piecing the last 2 on the side is the easiest way to make
the inverted cube. When folding the longer ends down,
you need to spread the inside of the short end, and then
just gently fold that flap inside. When you arrive at the
part where you make the 'spikes', just fold the edges
down approximately halfway from outer edge to the
center of the cube.

Hopefully the tutorial isn't difficult to decipher, and if you
have any questions about a particular fold or step, just
comment here or send me a message.

Suggestions and whatnot are also welcome :3

Poof~

Holy crap. You know, you could load the finished product instead of getting an ugly thumbnail of the whole process. :P

Amazing, I would never be able to do that :D I am one of those people who gets so frustrated by paper folding because I have no talent. I will just stick to writing. :D
